Here I present to you the third episode of Empty Notes, the eclectic media podcast where I try to work out my thoughts on a particular set of fictions. In this episode, I’ve let my annoyance with Elon Musk’s various ventures carry me forward into a more constructive critique of his futurist attitudes. Beyond that, I also try to address the more fantastical genre of retrofuturism, which seeks to bring past imaginations back into the present. As you will see, neither futurism nor retrofuturism currently possess the utopian spirit we require from them, and so I suggest some necessary improvements.
